7 Savory Pumpkin Recipes

The Pumpkin is like the unofficial symbol of Fall to me!  It is like the last thing to be harvested bringing an end to the growing season.  It is the most used Halloween decoration.  And when it comes to Thanksgiving..........it is usually the signature dessert on everyones table!  Yes, the pumpkin shows its face throughout the whole season of Fall!

So in honor of the Pumpkin,  I have compiled a list of 7 Savory Recipes for all of you to try!   Yes, savory......why not try something new this year with it instead of that old fashion pie.

Enjoy!

30-Day Challenge September

Just want to start off by saying that I was a total slacker last month!!  I didn't get much exercising in at all......my own fault for not making time for it, but I really just didn't have the time at all!  I had (and still have) a few different crochet projects that I was working on,  the dining room is in complete disarray, SCHOOL STARTED, a few get togethers and BAMMMMMM...the month was gone!

This month, I am definitely going to have to step up my game, especially since last month was a fail!  Today.....I start walking/jogging.  I dislike cardio so this is going to be a big step but I have come to realize that I need the cardio to burn the fat.  The past three months I have been doing mostly squats, crunches, etc.  and while I have seen some results, I think I hit a road block.  I am doing more toning than burning.....which is causing me to not be slimming, just trimming.

Okay, so here is Septembers calendar!

Most of the exercises are the same.  I was really enjoying some of them, and I did see some results, so I didn't want to give up on those just yet.  I left the numbers on them still low as well, because I didn't want to set too high of goals and give up because it was too much.  So I figured, if I could reach these low goals everyday, atleast I have accomplished something.  And, if I move past them, then that's bonus work!

The walking/jogging I set for one hour.  I haven't really got a set route yet that I plan on going, so as I get this part all figured out.....I will be able to change the time cap to mileage.  Also, since jogging is gonna be totally new to me, I wanted to start out walking and work myself up to the jogging part, lol.

End results for August are posted in the header tab as always!  If you join me this month good luck to all!

Novasure and a little TMI

This post may contain a little (TMI) too much information for some of you, so I just want to let you know that upfront before you read too far in.  My reason for posting about this is to hopefully get some insight on the subject from some of you that may have experienced the same thing.

In case you are not familiar with the product  Novasure, it is a brand name for a device that is used in the procedure known as Endometrial Ablasion.  Ablasion is done as an alternative, to having a hysterectomy.  The device is inserted into the cervix once dialated, and lasers away the lining of the uterus.

I am 32 years old, have had three children and a tubal litigation.  My sister and my mother both suffer from Endometrios.  I have yet to be diagnosed with it but have problems as well.  My periods are to the point of being debilitating!  Upon my most recent visit to the doctor, I was given three options to remedy this.  An IUD, Endometrial Ablation, or a Hysterectomy.

I have known several people that have had many problems with an IUD and I immediately ruled this option out.  The percentage of this helping me, was far lower than what I was looking for as well.  The Hysterectomy, I was not fond of either.  I am too young and the idea of possibly having to be on hormones for 20-25 years was not something that I even remotely wanted to consider.  So, I have been focusing my research on the Endometrial Ablasion.

Novasure is the device for the procedure that my doctors office offers.  I have viewed the website and even checked it out on the FDA site.  I have tried to look up testimonials and such but everything that I am finding is very negative.  This concerned me and almost made me throw this option out as well.  But the I got to thinking..........when someone has a bad experience, they are more likely to blast their story on the internet than someone who has had a good experience.  Im sure positive outcomes.....those people have moved on with their lives and don't think twice about it now.  So I decided not to let this sway my decision.

I am hoping to find some people who have had positive experiences with this procedure.  Get some real insight on what this is all about.  Have you or anyone you know ever had this done?  Any advice to share???

30-Day Challenge: August

July was a super busy month for me and I seemed to have gotten behind on everything!  I feel like a total slacker!  For the past two months I have posted a calendar containing a full months work out routine.  This month I have decided to just repeat Julys Calendar routine.  I feel like I have had some success with it, and I actually enjoy the routine.

If you go up  there is a tab for "Get fit Journal"  here is where I have posted my before and after pictures from doing these challenges.  I have only been following along with calendars, no dieting, or extra workouts.  I have not had so much luck with losing pounds, but I am def. seeing some results.  Muscle weighs more than fat, so I feel like I have been losing fat pounds and gaining muscle.

Ok, so if you would like to join in with me.....you can find the repeat July Calendar HERE!  If you decide to join in with me, let me know.  Would love to show my support for you!

Goodluck everyone!

Burritos for Breakfast (recipe)

Reminder: Don't forget to linkup your baby related topics over at All Things Baby linky party!! Submissions end in two days!!

It is Sunday again!!!  I actually got up early enough today to post what I made for breakfast. This breakfast recipe is a little different than what I usually make on Sundays.....and that is because it is actually healthy!  With all the high-calorie things we have been having at this house lately, I wanted to go a little lighter this time around.

The family loves breakfast burritos.  I think its because they are a grab and go, eat with your hands type of meal.  Usually I do the standard sausage, egg and cheese but this time...I went in the complete opposite direction.

I started out with some things that I already had in the fridge that needed used up.  I diced up 1/4 cup yellow bell pepper, 1/4 cup tomato, and 1/2 cup turkey.

This would be something nice and light to make after Thanksgiving to use up your turkey leftovers!  I didn't have any whole turkey breast to shred this time, so I used the cold cuts above.

With the temperature set to medium, drizzle a little olive oil in your pan and add the tomato, peppers and turkey.  You don't need to cook this long but just to heat through.  Then you will add in 4 egg whites.  Yes, only the whites!  For seasoning...I sprinkled the mixture with dried basil, salt and pepper.  Then scramble till cooked through.

Place on burrito sized flour tortilla shell and roll using your preferred method.  No Cheese!!

The measurements given in the above instructions only make  two burritos.  But you can easily double or triple.......add more or less of the ingredients to suit your preference.

These came out perfect!  The kids were not too thrilled with "healthy" aspect of it, but they did like them, and it gives for a more grown up taste.

Enjoy!!

Dry Cracked Heals Solution

Summer is my favorite season, for many reasons.  I love the warm weather, the kids are out of school, we get to eat BBQ......yum!,  and one of my favoritest things.......wearing flip flops or better yet....bare feet!!!!

The only problem is that walking around bare foot all the time does tremendous damage to heals.  My feet get dry and ashy, and my heals end up hard and cracked.  This can be a real problem, and unsightly at that!

Sure I could go and spend $40.00 bucks on a pedicure, ah..........that sounds so nice.....but the only problem is.......Im broke! Lol!  No seriously, things like that are just not in my budget.  I maintain my toe polish myself and I do a pretty good job.  I have learned to file and paint like the pros and it has saved me tons of money that Im able to spend on things we really need.  I even have all the tools to maintain nice smooth heals, but for some reason....no matter how much buffing and products I use I can never get my heals to what they should be.

Until now!!

You see this little baby here!  Yeah, well this has been my miracle cure.  Im not brand specific, so that doesn't really matter here.  This just happened to be the bottle I already had at the house.  I had heard before that Tea Tree Oil is good at keeping Lice away, so I put a little bit in the kids shampoo, especially during school season.  Hey, you can never be too careful with things like that.

Back to the feet!  I have been rubbing this on my heals at night (just with my fingertips)  for the last few days.  I can already see a difference!  Hoping that after another good home pedicure that I can finally be rid of my problematic heals and feel confident that walking around barefoot is not going to be an issue no more!

Just a little advice, this worked for me.
