All Things Baby Linky Party 3

Whoooaa........things were so crazy this weekend that I did not have time to post my feature from the All Things Baby Linky Party 2 yesterday! 

 

 

 We had our American Girl Crafts House Party, and our family grill out.......things went amazingly great and I had such a wonderful time!!  I will share more on all this later this week....but for now lets get on to my feature from last weeks All Things Baby Linky Party....

My Little Pony Galore!

When I was little, I absolutely loved My Little Pony!  I had the pony dolls, castle and just about anything that you could imagine that they were printed on!  I was a total 80's child, and when I had my little girl, the ponys were making their way back into mainstream once again.  I can not tell you how excited I was about this.

 

When my daughters was transitioning over from her crib to toddler bed, I knew that I had to redo her room with........none other than the My Little Pony theme from my child hood.  I did some looking around and couldn't find bedding and such items that I was going to need to redo her room.  They had just started to release the toys on the shelves and suppose they weren't ready for my takeover yet!

 

This ladies and gentlemen.......is when I bought my first sewing machine!!  My great grandmother was a master quilter, and watching her all those years....I knew I could do!  So, I then started searching for fabric.  This they had!  I found the fabric on ebay.  There was a listing for a bundle of 12 yards, two different prints and I knew I had to have it.  By the way, this is a throwback post.....this all took place about 8 years ago...but I wanted to share.

 

 

My sewing machine didn't stop running for days.  I made her a quilt and several pillows.  Once I got going I couldn't stop..........I had sooooooo much of this fabric.  I recovered the glider in her room and made her a valance for her window.

 

 

This is a pretty bad picture, I had to pull this out of the photo album, I was digitalized yet! 

 

A few years later, when she started growing a mind of her own, she decided that she no longer wanted the ponys.......I was very sad to see them go.  The problem here, well.......I still had yards upon yards of this fabric left!  I was hoping to use it again to make her a quilt when she switched bed sizes again but that was now not going to happen.

 

I did manage to get lucky once.  About four years ago, I good friend of mine was pregnant with a girl!  Oh, here was my chance to finally get to use  up some more of this fabric. 

 

 

For her babyshower, I made her a quilt with the ponys!  She loved it!  And her little girl still uses it to this day. 

 

 

Ok, some more bad pictures.......I know......but these are throwbacks!

 

The problem I am now having, and the reason this post is being thrown out there, is that while cleaning out my stash.......I realized that I still have several yards of this fabric!  I have ran out of room to store anything new that I buy so I am trying to use up some of my supply.  This fabric must go!  My daughter wants nothing to do with it and no one I know is having little girls anytime soon.

 

So what do I do with it?  What would you do with it?  I would really like to make something out of it.  I thought about making a couple baby quilts and just storing them a way for quick gifts.  That doesn't get rid of my problem though.  I need to make space for new stuff and this idea would just be moving it from one spot to another, lol.  I guess if all else fails there is always ebay :(

 

 



Change of Plans

Last week I gave you a Sneak Peek of something that I was in the middle of making for my daughter.  Well, we had a little mishap in the process. It wasn't that it looked bad, it just didn't turn out to be what I was wanting.  We made another trip to the fabric store and found some lovely pink this time, and I knew it was going to be perfect!  Yes.....I needed to make my chicklet a new dress! 

 

Since my first attempt did not turn out as planned, I was running out of time!   I was left with only two days to complete this.  These were not two full days either!  I work a full time job and still needed to come home each night and cook dinner and take care of the house.  So, I was really pressed for time on this one!  Im guessing it took me around four hours to finish and with such short time, I was very satisfied with the outcome!

 

 

I made the perfect little summer dress and it fit great! She is such a tiny little thing that I find it really hard to shop for her.  Nothing ever fits her right. So a lot of times I find it easier to make things for her myself.

Ok, so the reason we needed to get this done by Friday was because my oldest niece was getting married!  Will be posting pictures from the wedding real soon so be sure to check back!

 

 

 

 

 



Sneak Peak!

I have had my hands full  for the last couple of days.  I have a new project in the works for my chicklet!  With everything else I have going on, I hope I can get it finished in time.  The deadline is this coming Friday!  Yikes!

 

 

I Sew Too!

When it comes to sewing,  I am a total ametuer! I never quite seem to get past that phase of it either, but I keep stitching on!  My seams are never perfect and half the time my cuts are not straight but no one around my house seems to care, or atleast they don't complain about it!

This week past week, I decided to make a gardening apron for my mother inlaw.  We were going to be spending part of Memorial Day weekend with her so I wanted to surprise her with a little gift.

 One thing that her and I have in common is that we love butterflies!  And I just happened to already have some material on hand with them on there.  The green fabric  and yellow bias tape was from a previous baby quilt I made for a friend.  The buttons left over from a crochet project, matched the colors of the fabric perfect so I through them on there as well!  It was nice to not have to spend a penny to make this!  Now I am on a mission to  make one for myself!

Pioneer Days

Last week, my daughter brought home a permission slip from school to participate in their celebration of Pioneer Days. I read through the paper noting that she would need a sack lunch and no chaperones were needed, signed it and packed it away in folder. On Sunday night, she brings to me another paper about the field trip. As I was reading over this one, my jaw started slowly dropping to the floor! They needed costumes!!!!!!! How I neglected to see this paper on Friday is beyond me! So, here I am, night before the field trip with no costume! I could not by any means send her to school to be the only one not dressed for the celebration. I scrambled around the house and came up with a few things that just might work! Now, this was not going to be my best work, or even decent work with the time and materials I had to work with but I did manage to come up with this......................

 

She didnt have a white blouse so we settled for a plain T.  Grabbed an old skirt from my scrap box, pleated and sewed it to the shirt.  The tan clothe and lace trim I had left over from a project a few years back, and with this we whipped up a quick apron!  The bonnet......well......there was some mishaps along the way with that but she was proud to wear it just the way it was!

 

Aside from all the flaws, she loved it!  And that made me smile!  No matter how bad I knew the seams were, or how frumpy the T was......she thought it was the best thing ever!
